October 2018 Update
The Harvest Is Great
Kansas City is home to over 2.1 million people. Only half of that population claim any kind of religious affiliation. Less than half of those who claim a religious affiliation attend church on a consistent basis. That means that seventy-five to eighty percent of Kansas City is unchurched or de-churched. Kansas City needs revival! In order to reach even a fraction of these people we need God’s favor and blessing, boldness, and wisdom!
The Church Is The People Not The Building
Our current plan is to be a portable church. In Nomadic Church Bill Easum defines a portable church as “a local church that meets in someone else’s space, which is not a traditional church building, for an extended period of time in order to conduct corporate worship and other ministries”.There are several reasons why we are choosing to be portable. The primary reason for our being portable is that the church is not a building; it is the people. When churches are portable the people are typically more missional. The people see themselves as the church and not a building. The great commission is then fulfilled wherever the people are and not at a set location. A second reason is that it is a cheaper option than a twenty-four/seven lease or purchasing a building. A third reason is, that as a portable church, we will have the flexibility to change rental locations much quicker as growth makes that necessary. Finally, being portable will create more opportunity for more people to serve in the church due to the required set up and tear down. The more people you have engaged in serving the better the retention rate and the more quickly people are able to be discipled.
The costs to purchase our portable church equipment is $50,000. This will allow us to begin services with the necessary level of excellence and efficiency that will be needed to effectively reach the people in our area with the gospel. If you would like more information or to partner with us to fulfill this vision you can do so at the following link: portable.
God has continued to give us favor with people of Olathe. Doors are continuing to open for gospel conversations with business owners and influential people in the community. We are excitedly anticipating the great things God will do in the near future as we prepare for and begin public services.
On October 21st we celebrated Anthony’s seventeenth birthday. The first family birthday since arriving onsite. While at the restaurant we ran into some wonderful friends from St. Louis, Phil and Angie Willeford.
We were also privileged to be visited by good friends from our Bible college days; Jason and Kristen Hoffman and Larissa.
Pray With Us
Please help us pray that God will continue lead us to hungry hearts that are receptive to the Gospel. Pray that God will help us to be effective in evangelizing and discipling those we connect with. Pray that God would prepare and send the needed people to help us begin services. Also, please pray about whether God would have you partner with us for the needed funds for our equipment. For the Kingdom,
