February 2019 Newsletter
Look What The Lord Has Done
In June of 2017 I read through the twenty-fifth anniversary book of New Life Austin. It was inspiring and uplifting to see all that God accomplished in twenty-five years through the Bernards and Shaws. We started this journey with the knowledge that I would be forty-six when we arrived onsite and with anticipation that we had twenty-five good years to see God’s vision for us and the church come to pass. We also started this journey knowing that if anything of eternal significance would be accomplished it would be due to God’s blessing, favor, and Spirit. To that end after reading the anniversary book I wrote the following prayer in Onenote:
At the writing of this newsletter we are just a few days away from our first service. So before the first song, before the first sermon, before the first service, with anticipation and faith I say, “Look what the Lord has done”!
Portable Church Update
God continues to provide funds, through His people, for our portable church equipment. Nathan Dormer, a former student and resident assistant of mine from our Bible College days, is now pastor in Topeka, Kansas. He and the church not only are partnering financially with us for our equipment, but they also purchased a great set of drums for Cross Church. We are very grateful for all who have partnered with us to purchase equipment!
The missions leaders at the Pentecostals of Alexandria host a missionary banquet every year at BOTT. This year I was able to meet the people in charge of their “Missions Hotline”. These are saints in the church who love missions and raise money for missions projects through bake sales and similar means. They blessed us with a generous donation toward our equipment. We continue to be humbled by the great love the United Pentecostal Church has for missions and count ourselves most blessed to be part of such a great organization and body of believers.

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it was full of activity. Many of you prayed in response to the prayer request I sent out about the invocation at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce on February 1. Only time will tell about the true effectiveness of the prayer, but it was very effective in the short term of getting exposure and recognition for the church.
The Kansas district ministers’ and wives’ retreat was held in Fort Scott. The meeting was not only inspirational and uplifting but was a wonderful time connecting with the great people of the Kansas district.
We were privileged to preach for Jonathan Hanney, our nearest neighboring pastor, in Overland Park the second Sunday of February. They share our vision and desire to see great revival on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area.
In February we began a Financial Peace University class with people form the community. Once again God blessed us in this endeavor. A local bank is providing their board room free of charge for the class. Additionally, one of the incredible people that I met through the Chamber of Commerce covered all of the cost related to the class.
In a previous newsletter I mentioned we were able to do Outreach at a local apartment complex. We continue to make connections with the residents there and are getting increasing opportunities to share the gospel. Continue to pray that God will send us Spanish-speaking team members to help us in this endeavor.
Anna and I took a quick road trip the first weekend of February to celebrate her best friend’s birthday. She had a great time connecting and celebrating with friends.
Anthony continues to excel at his job. He was employee of the month for his area and continues to be a great witness in the workplace.
